Mini Kit

Full kit, ideal for investigating small areas.

Very easy to use: Simply add both tablets from the sealed foil pack into one of the included spray bottles filled with distilled water.

The Mini Kit allows investigators to quickly detect the presence of invisible blood traces. A positive chemiluminescent reaction indicates a strong likelihood of blood, even after washing or cleaning.

BLUESTAR® Forensic reacts to all types of blood.

To determine whether the blood is of human origin, use BLUESTAR® Identi-HEM® or BLUESTAR® OBTI rapid immunochromatographic tests.

A positive sample can later be confirmed in a forensic laboratory.

False positives
& false negatives

Principle

BLUESTAR® Forensic is a luminol-based reagent for detecting minute, erased, or thoroughly washed blood traces, even in the presence of detergents and at high dilutions.

Upon contact with a blood trace, the reagent produces a visible blue chemiluminescent glow. It can be applied to all surfaces including metal, plastic, and fabric.

The reaction is visible to the naked eye and does not damage DNA.

Sensitivity

BLUESTAR® Forensic is more sensitive than other blood developers.

It can reveal traces of blood at dilutions as high as 1:100,000 (see study), including microscopic droplets and invisible traces, even on dark surfaces.

The sensitivity depends on the presence of blood, not on the volume of the stain.

Its stronger and longer-lasting luminescence does not require total darkness and makes it possible to obtain high-quality photographs or videos using standard digital cameras or DSLR equipment.

BLUESTAR® Forensic is also capable of revealing very old blood. The oldest blood sample detected with BLUESTAR® dates back 7,000 years during archaeological research (see publication).

False positives

Some food substances or chemicals may also react with BLUESTAR® Forensic.

Proper training is essential for effective use and for distinguishing between true blood reactions and false positives.

A well-trained technician will immediately recognize the difference.
